On the Workbench:

On this section, I will show images of some kits
I have on my workbench at the moment.
They might finally end up at my review pages.

"Hasegawa's Skywarrior"
This kit has been on my workbench for a couple of months now.
I hope i will find time to finish this "project" this summer ;-)
I'd like to add following comments about the new Skywarrior kit from Hasegawa.
1. There are no JATO (RATO) rocket mountings represented on the aft fuselage.
You have to scribe them by yourself on the fuselage in front of the air brakes,
since I think they were present on all versions, even on the EKA-3B which
had a pair of its ECM blisters covering this area.

2. There's a need to carve out the space
between the wheel and the landing gear.
3. When looking at the box art painted by Koike Shigeo, I noticed the
darker gray area painted above the Navy markings.
Either Hasegawa has made a mistake or maybe they haven't?
What do I mean by that?
Let's see, ...when looking in Squadron Signals A-3 Skywarrior in action,
on page 24 there is a picture showing  two Phantoms flying formation
with an A-3B from WAH-11, USS Roosevelt. This is the individual #602.
The decals in the Hasegawa kit depicts the #606 aircraft from
WAH-11, DET 8.
Has Koike Shigeo wrongly marked the box art painting with
USS Roosevelt and very hasty over painted it with a slightly
darker shade of gray ?
...or has he really done his homework well and show us all how the original
really looked after it has been relocated from, maybe USS Roosevelt to
DET (detachment?) 8.?
Now, ...how should I do on my kit, should I paint the darker gray area,
...or not?
If anyone knows the truth about this thrilling subject, please step forward
and do so I can sleep well again ;-)
Best Regards
